Getting a flat on an RV is never predictable, and that’s when you’d appreciate having a spare tire readily available. The bad news is that not all RVs feature a designated place to accommodate a spare. In the case of most travel trailers and 5th wheels, a 4-inch square tube rear bumper can serve as a platform for mounting a tire holder and transporting a spare. Such carriers have simple constructions made up of a metal tube, mounting plates, and hardware. They may feature a folding design making it easier to get to the storage area out back.
RV and trailer tire holders come in many other forms. There are basic U-shaped bolts that secure the tire to the trailer frame through the holes in the rim. Some carriers allow you to store your spare underneath your rig while ensuring easy access to it. The tire can also be mounted inside the trailer to prevent theft and eliminate exposure to the elements. There are simple shaft and bracket style holders that bolt on to just about any suitable panel you don’t mind drilling holes in. In our store, you’ll find RV tire carriers from reputable brands like Lippert or Stromberg Carlson, made from robust metals finished in anti-corrosion coatings for strength and durability.
